PROVIDERS
Deborah Rush (She/Her)
PMHNP-BC
Medical Director
I am a wellness-oriented provider; I do not view my clients as ill but rather as unique. I believe in the recovery model rather than the medical model; this focuses on being the best you can be rather than focusing on a "cure" for illness. I believe in the least amount of medication, for the shortest amount of time to maintain the highest quality of life. The patient is at the center of their plan and treatment must be collaborative between patient and provider. I am here to make a difference.
Janet Gilbreath (She/Her)

Jalyn Benca (She/Her)
DNP, PMHNP
I am a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner, and I graduated from University of Washington in 2017 with my BA in psychology. After learning how much I loved mental health but wanted to practice within a clinical setting, I attended Idaho State University for both my undergraduate nursing degree and doctorate. I believe in treating the person as a whole to achieve wellness, addressing not only potential medication needs but lifestyle changes as well. I often say I like to work with pills and skills! I work with those of all ages across the spectrum of mental health. Currently I live in Tacoma, Washington with my husband and two chihuahuas, Tito and Yoko. I enjoy exercising, spending time with family, and absolutely love my job. I commend you for reaching out for help regarding your own mental health and look forward to working with you.

SUPPORT ANIMALS
Freckles
Freckles is a Chihuahua/terrier mix; he was rescued in September 2014 after being returned back to our rescue organization three times because he kept running away. When we saw this, we decided we just had to have him. He was very easy to train and soon became a therapy dog and visited hospitals and children’s wards in our area. The business opened about the same time we got him and I started bringing him into the office and he took to it right away. He would greet the patients and jump in their lap and enjoy pets and cuddles. It was such a special situation that when he wasn’t there, the patient would ask for him. So over time he started coming in more and more, now he’s just part of the team and everyone enjoys him; adults and children alike.
Maya
Maya is a blue heeler also known as an Australian cattle dog. She was also rescued in September 2014, and we were her foster parents. We fell in love with her immediately and decided within one day to adopt her. She’s my husband’s service animal when we travel, she actually hears him and when he travels alone in the car, she will sit in the backseat and lick his cheek if there are noises, he should be aware of such as sirens or honking horns etc. She started coming into the office about a year after freckles started coming. Although she’s an extremely calm and loving animal I wasn’t sure how she would do with patients. Well, she was also a natural, she just enjoys people. She doesn’t jump in laps, though she’s so well-behaved. She will come over to the patient and put her head on their lap and encourage a pet for her head. She is also enjoyed by the patients; she does really love to come into the office.
